The turret is starting to take shape. It is constructed from thin ply mounted on a frame, which is then coated with fibreglass. |

Couple of years work to get to this stage, few things remaining, painting, detailing, new wheels and tracks and a few things on the turret. |

The 8 bolts on the side of the hull are connected to the batteries so I can charge the tank without opening it up. Just a little detail to make my life easier |

The rear of the KV is curved, to replicate this I cut the side of the hull to the desired shape, then made a balsa wood skin to span the gap. I then gave it 3 coats of fibreglass for strength. The black thing on the left is the master kill switch. |

The attachment chain tracks are fine, but I need something a bit lighter. I'm going to rebuild them as a sprocket driven TTS, much lighter. |

The front of the turret and mantle are made of fibreglass. I simply modeled the right shape in clay then gave the clay a few coats of fibreglass, once set I removed the clay and was left with very rigid lightweight parts! |

The turret is modeled after the 1939 variant, simply because it puts the gun lower in the turret. Gives me an extra 2" over the barrel, space I need. Plus with the Russians they mixed and matched things all the time.

350W scooter motors provide the go, RS80D tells it all what to do and the 4 12V 12AH sla batteries give everything life. Very simple, proven setup.

These 2 batteries are mounted up front to offset the weight of the motors a bit. Also seen here is the springs, and adjustment setup, to give a nice smooth ride. At the top of the pic the turret basket is also visible |

Here are the masters for the road wheels and hubs, track cleats, and drive sprocket. There is no detail on the sprocket because its a very common size, which means I can use it for other tanks and add detail to the finished part, less molds required.
They will be cast out of smoothcast 300. |
