These fellers are not messing about. A Willys Jeep could move big guns quickly round a battle field.

I inherited an old golf cart with a 140w 12v motor gearbox , output rpm 200 , not very fast, so I geared up a little with a 16T to a 12T 3/8th pitch roller chain transmission.

Rocky Rider is mainly 9mm ply , the wheels are kids bike stabilizers on a 10mm solid shaft, no diff for now ,but Im looking, The Motor will become the body of our hero Rocky , No action men on this crate thank you very much. And I`ll never have a hot motor.

The drive shaft bars are seated into blocks of timber filled with candle wax, I bought roller bearings but due to a delay in shipping I decided to see how well wax works . Ok so far. With limited space I opted for 5Amp hour batteries , 140w / 12v = 11.6 Amps at full speed. So if on average I use 10amps then 5Ah will last half an hour. I call that cheap motoring.

The main body takes shape . A few coats of PVA for strength and some water repelling , its ready for priming.

This was the tricky part, the axles on the original 4wd car were only 4mm and I wanted 8 or 10mm. So I drilled and fitted a piece of 8mm bar, This is the most dodgy part of the Jeeps construction and the part I most expect to fail.

The wheels attached , very nice suspension but a little wobbly.

A splash of primer and all of a sudden its still not very good.

Trying to find that sweet point , where the weight is on the back wheels but not so much to cause a back flip.
