The M3 Scout Car is a 21st Century Soldier 1:6 scale plastic vehicle
that is available at most large toy stores. Although it is relatively
inexpensive, it has nice details (before getting shot at) and can be modified
for remote control use.

The top of the car has been removed (just a couple of screws) and the
bottom has been reinforced with a piece of plywood. The rear axle
assembly from an R/C truck is then bolted into place, using the
solid rubber and plastic wheels provided with the model.

The top view of the steering mechanism shows the same basic
Frankenstein approach which combines the operational parts
from an R/C truck with the larger scale scout car.

|
|
|
The bottom view of the front suspension shows some heavy duty shock
absorbers, which should help when going over rough terrain. Also note
how the R/C truck axles and rims have been mounted to the scout car
wheels with a couple of screws.
