R/C Tank CombatZombie WarZombie War |
BackgroundA new scenario was created by Will Montgomery for the first battle: Zombie War. Each asset/operator would be on their own team, fighting for survival. Operators could shoot an asset at most once while they were roaming the field. At that point, any other shots by that operator at the same asset would be ignored. Once an asset had accumulated 4 hits, it was declared destroyed and to return to home base to become re-incarnated.To make the game more interesting, all zombies had to stay within the boundary designated by a collection of cones. Assets could enter the boundary at any point, but once inside the boundary, assets could not leave the area until they were destroyed. To make the game even more interesting, Bazooka Joe was granted "one-shot-one-kill" status. That is, if Bazooka Joe landed a single hit on any asset it was immediately destroyed and Bazooka Joe was awarded the remaining number of hits on the asset. The following zombies roamed the field:
Steve Tyng (Cromwell), Will Montgomery (SU-100), Loic Anthian (Tiger), Doug Conn (Tiger), Paul Pittelli (Patton), John Pittelli (Panzer II), Joe Sommer (Hetzer), Frank Pittelli (Semovente), David Lyons (Bazooka Joe)
Video Analysisby John PittelliBrief rules recap: You can only score one hit on a vehicle, so it takes 4 hits from different assets to kill you. It's every man for themselves. First few minutes of video: Lesson 1. Hard to break old habits.. Right Doug LOL. Lesson 2. Once that asset hits you, they might as well be your new best friend . Right Doug. Since Doug was already dead on me I ran over to his side of the field. Next section of video: Score two hits on two separate assets as they are hunting others. Since it was hard to see on the video, I blew it up. You can actually watch in slow motion as the first shot arcs onto Bad Kitty's rear flank and then the next shot explodes on Will SU100. Next snippet, long range, very hard to see Paul and his PzII between the trees. But I score a wheel hit as he runs from right to left. Since I could not score any more Paul then comes to attack me. You can see the white on the idler as he crosses in front of me. Somewhere along the next minute the camera loosened up and was facing downward. Stayed that way for the rest of the game. Then comes a better view of Paul's PZII. (Actually looks like he should already be dead, my white, 2 massive orange and what looks like yellow above the orange.) Lesson 3 then follows. As with all new scenarios, sometimes certain situations are not addressed in the initial briefing. When I reentered play following my first reincarnation( yes I died many times) I asked. Is everyone allowed to shoot at me now and am I able to target everyone? The answer was yes. Sadly Joe was not in earshot during that conversation. And, I think I have a challenging scenario for our spring event.
Academic Commentsby Dr. Joe SommeThis video has a doubly classic ending.
[Editor] Dr. Sommer often suffers from "I didn't hear that syndrome" usually caused by his lack of attention during pre-battle discussions. |
