R/C Tank Combat
For many years, Doug's Tiger was the only tank on the battlefield operating
with WiFi radio gear. That all ended when Loic's Field-of-Armor Tiger
showed up using a laptop and WiFi controller as part of its operational
suite. In honor of the momentous occasion, Doug and Loic were chosen as the
leaders of opposite teams that would battle for the title of "WiFi King".
The teams were assigned randomly as follows:
Team WEP - Loic (T087), Paul (T077), Neil (T001), Steve (T040), Rick (FA004) Team WAP - Doug (T058), John (T079), Frank (T100), Will (T026), Claire (FA003)
Notably absent from the line-up were Marty's Comet and Joe's Hetzer, both of which suffered motor problems during the first battle.
The battle scenario would be "Casino". Both teams would attempt to break into the casino located in the village, secure a large gold brick and transport it safely back to the Main Base. Field artillery assigned to each team would be placed strategically in the village and would be allowed 3 troops each. Since no supply vehicles were available for both teams, the artillery operators would re-supply themselves by "walking" back to the Main Base to get more ammo.
A total of three sorties were run, with Team WEP successfully getting the gold twice and Team WAP getting the gold once. With both teams focused on securing the gold and transporting it to home base, there were relatively few tanks destroyed and no artillery taken out of action (or at least recorded on the score sheets). It must be noted, of course, that Claire still had some fun terrorizing Neil with the Navarone Gun, scoring 3 of the 4 hits needs to destroy the Neil's borrowed Tiger. After bonuses were awarded, Team WEP squeaked out a victory, thereby annointing Loic as "WiFi King".
