Do you like Gene? she's a fun
tankette.
The DeWalts are mounted exactly as in my HAGo .
That's a readily available steel hexagonal shaft 17 mm dia. , drilled to receive
the shaft that comes out of the gearbox. One end of it
was turned to a lathe to become a round axle. A thread was made into
teh hole, and the drill's axle is screwed in it. A 4 mm diam. pin holds
everything in place. Secure with lock nuts. Reversible. Luckily, a member of the
local RC club is a profeesional ironsmith and has lathes an all. He did it for
free. Two steel shafts across the lower hull hold the drills in place so
they don't rotate. The drills are not fixed anywhere, just secured between the
two shafts. In the last jpegs, you see the drills and shafts on a plotted CAD
drawing of the drive wheels. The round part of each shaft goes through two ball
bearings on either side of the hull wall.
