quoting Mathew: "as the outer diameter of the wheel
and the wooden wheels as a guard to stop the track coming off. then the
pins are not as close to the edge of the wood"
When I tried this system, the long, unsupported
pins bent because of leverage and that was only with a rubber, much lighter
track. Mathew's system will work fine with a thicker wheel in
the middle that allows little leverage on the pins. It is overall a good
system if you can find rubber belts that are 1.5 -1.6 m. long or longer. One
meter long cloth reinforced belts like these cost 40 euro each and , together
with 3 mm bolts, run my Tankette for about 6 months.
