For some reason, I have to do things the hard way the first 30 or 40 times. My original plan was to get an air horn system for a truck and run off of that. http://www.hadley-products.com/catalog/Catalog.aspx?cmd=prd&div=0&srch=1&prd=31

I'm leaning towards my own gun with a CO2 supply to reduce cost and I'm pretty sure an air compressor is going to suck battery life down to nothing.

Yes you are looking for a pressure switch.

And also why does everyone think that a homemade marker must run on compressed air? Why not get a co2 bottle attach a small regulator and be done with it? I find the rc warship regulators are perfect, nice and small and usually put out about 150 psi.

The most important part of the homemade marker will always be the firing valve. You need it to be able to handle the pressure as well as release all the air very quickly, the best valves I have found for this are simple sprinkler valves, you can find quite small inline ones for under $20
