like the idea you could use countersunk pop rivets or you could Superglue them i hear their are some really strong glues now , or you could just do what I've just finished, it took me a long time to do, the tracks are solid rubber with steel liners, first had to design them, then made the pins for the tread, spot weld them together, had a ferm to make the templates, and then had them moulded, made all the links and pins, then the fun bit 3 weeks putting it all together, have a look at pics, Kev UK

how would you attach them to your hinged tracks so they don't pop off on the first skid turn? if you could find a way to secure them well enough, i'd say try it as they would stop you from sliding and give some grip
