Neil, You may be facing the same problem  I am facing: You now have speed but low torque in the second gear. THat;s fine for a flat terrain, and it was smart of you be able to operate both gears. Try going up a steep slope with the low gear. Have you gone up a slope with teh second gear?  If your speed is reduced considerably, then you need more torque.  Your motors draw amps , they run less and they go hot. (this is practically what happens) For battles, you can economize, by switching to the fast gear only when you want to get away, or to approach someone quickly, then back to low gear for aiming and manoeuvres. My new tank is fast  but I don't want it to be fast (we'll never be completely happy with this hobby). I also like stunts, especially with these suspensions. I am replacing ALL of my heavy upper hull with a new one, built entirely out of 1 mm thick aluminium, in order to reduce weight. It is 5 kgr heavy now, and it is going to become an aluminium "tin box". Thus I'll get rid of 4 kgr. Also, I am installing, new, slightly smaller drive wheels, hoping that this will increase torque by 10 %. Plus fans,  heat sinks, ... + + + ....

I`ve been wondering for a while about my motors ,I dont know the wattage,
Im guessing lower than 100w and my tank moves as fast as i
would ever want it to.
However they do get warm quickly. Is that one of the reasons for using high wattage
motors?
