--I've been lurking on this list for quite some time
now. Figure this is a good spot to chime in. I have
both an electric Kyosho Blizzard and several Tamiya
1/16th scale tanks. All using a single motor / clutch
system. They all work well and are fairly reliable.
The only performance drawback is they don't have the
ability to spin in place. I'd say for this application
you'd be better off with the standard bot drive dual
motor tank steering setup using a vantec or a pair of
victors.
oh, and just for reference, my relevant experience is
as follows
15 plus years racing radio control cars on and off
road
first competed in combat robotics at Robotwars 1995.

Micah can attest to the fact that I am considered a
jerk by many.....
Tank plans for my teamate and I are eventually to
construct a pair of M41 bulldogs using Ev's and
hawkers.
