I did get the "final version" rolling, and it has 4 direct-drive motors, so it's got plenty of torque. I may just slap the Komatsu LAV body it, and call it done.

I'd pull the motor and slide in a slightly bigger one.  Even if it takes some fitting...  be worth it.  I feel your pain on prototypes.  Hope you can get one rolling and shooting!
