Elevon mixing works for skid-steer vehicles but it has some
drawbacks depending on the mixing algorithm. I tried using
elevon mixing with two IFI Victor 883 ESCs and I did not like it
at all.

Some elevon mixing methods only provide full speed
in the corners of stick motion (one track full speed forward
or reverse with the other track completly off) and provide
70% speed to both motors when the stick is hard forward,
hard right, hard reverse, or hard left. Alternately, they use
"add-and-clamp" mixing as described under "Improved
Mixing Algortihm" at
http://www.robotlogic.com/IMX1_Users_Guide.pdf

Personally, I do not recommend elevon mixing.

I do recommend the Robot Logic IMX-1 mixer at
http://www.robotlogic.com/product_imx1.html
or the Diverse Electronics RCIC2mixer at
http://members.tripod.com/~divelec/html/rcic2-sc.html

Alternately, I recommend Vantec, Robot Solutions
or Anvilus controllers that provide mixing.

Joe

Speaking of speed controls, does anyone have experience with using elevon mixing controls?

It seems that some radio systems (mine included) can provide a built-in mixing capability for controlling v-tailed airplanes.

This sounds a lot like skid steering.

If this works, it could be a simple solution to then run two speed controllers (eg the MC-7), one per track.

Glad I did`nt disappoint ya mate ;-)

The thing is , 24v + esc are pricy
There`s a british company called 4QD
if you do a little search you`ll find them
have a look at:-

ESC  2No VTX 40 24v    75 quid each + BX-A
     +
     1No DMR 203 (40)

Hope this makes some sense

The whole lot about 200 pounds

Steve T told my about an esc called RS80D, only in america but I`ve read about it and it sounds the business,

the motors are rated at 24v 16amps see pics,

Kevin I would`ve thought you would be best qualified to answer this yourself.

What voltage are the motors?
any pics ( in focus please )
I`ve been looking at a British made esc thing for a while now. It,ll cost 200 quid ,But If your voltage is 18 or less,
then there are cheaper alternatives.
