While suffering several setbacks with my BT-7 chassis,  I've turned my attention to my turret.  While surfing for a cheap slip ring assembly, I found a link to a page showing ball bearings used as electrical contacts.  I immediately thought, what a simple solution to the "turret rotation" problem.  I've liberated four bearings from scrap motors at work and will share my results.
