At no point in the history of the hobby has anyone actually brought a
ruler to the field. Besides, since it's a Marine version of the M1A1,
we can't expect it to be accurate :-)
Seriously, at 1:9 scale, the M1 will have very little height in the
turret, which may cause some nasty mounting issues. Generally, for
modern tanks with low aspect ratios that are being built from scratch, I
suggest making them longer than the minimum length so that there is more
interior room for installing systems. In your case, you are building
from a kit, so that advice doesn't apply, but anyone else building from
scratch in the future may want to consider that.
Look forward to seeing an M1 on the field ... the German WW-II tanks
need some worthy adversaries :-)
