I know Neil, but the drive wheels will have to turn 4 kg before the tank moves.
However, I don't think that hinge tracks are heavier than roller chain tracks with iron pads. Perhaps   I worry too much. You should be able to run it with 24 V. motors.
 
True, I will be within the rules if I stretched the tank to 92 cms, however Maryland is kind of far from where I am, so no chance of playing with Frank's Heroes or the DUtch or British group anyway .....
 
Aahz, you can try alumnium pads to reduce track weight, however they will be scratched or bent easily.  These aluminium plates can be fixed to roller chains, I would think. Also, end axles should be about 20 mm or 1 inch dia. We are all eager to see your T35. CHrys

Thats up to you Chrys but if you just stretch it to
915mm you`ll be within the rules,

However my new tracks will be about 4kg  or more each.
I keep telling myself that regardless of speed
nearly half of them are just lay on the floor
