Have you calculated the weight of these tracks Neroc?
I am asking because it sounds like a good idea. I would try a
3'' width (for my model) instead of 4" and a thickness of
1/16th" only, if I could find such plates, of course. Some early tanks used
quite narrow tracks; I don't know if this is better for skidding. Your tank
might require 4" wide plates. Every link would be quite thick, when 2 of
those plates are bolted together to either side of the treadmill. Will you
explain to us the drive system and sprocket design for these
tracks?
By the way, do you need to tension the treadmills all the
time? DO they get loose as they stretch? That's important if you use teeth on
your sprocket and not just friction wheels.
Ideal material would be 4" * 1" * 1/16th-1/8th"
stainless.
this I would fix (bolt) either side of 4" treadmill. |
