You will need a drill press to use the 5” cutter safely.  Also, you will need to enlarge the center hole afterwards and it can be challenging to get that exactly centered.

Harbor freight offers this cheap hole saw kit. It comes with a 5” hole saw. Perfect for making 5” wooden wheels.

Regarding wheels,

 

If you have a power miter saw I have a technique where you can cut out accurate plywood wheels all day.

Frank,

Are there any build sessions scheduled for Annapolis in the near future?  My Tiger 1 hull structure is done.  I am now looking for surplus wheels.  5" dia X 1" with a 3/8 axle.  I am to the point where I am, "LOST."  I need lots of help in order to get this thing completed.

Anyone having any luck with treadmill belt?  I went to the local gyms and have had no luck getting any belts.
