Doug,

Was it the control side or the driver side which blew?

Well, it turns out those Oatley jumbo servo kits don’t like running at 24v J

I discovered this by promptly blowing up the one that Frank lent me. Nine bucks and a trip to Radio Shack later it was repaired. When my order form Oatley finally arrived (what the hell goes on in Australia, anyway !), I was armed with a schematic and could figure out which components to change out for a higher voltage. So far, so good with the testing but it’s still early. If anyone’s interested in over-volting these things, let me know and we’ll talk.

Frank, I’ll return your loaner soon. Don’t worry, it’s the original enclosure but the circuit inside is a brand spanking new Oatley kit. I tested it (at 12 volts) and it seems fine. Thank you so much for your help. You rule.
