So I decided that given the small size, few
wheels and disproportionally wide shape, my prototype could become only a
tankette at 1:5.5th - 6th scale, and a length of 55 cms. Aluminium
sheets, 1.5 mms thick reirforced and braced along the edges create an
impenetrable armour (from paintballs), with an upper hull less than 2 kgrs
heavy. It is not bad at all. In fact, it is a small
target. Yet, it is an imaginary Tankette. This type of hull never existed
but considering the variety of tankettes used by the Polish cavalry, it
could only be possible in the '30s of a parallel universe. A tribute
to the Polish forces who actually used tankettes in large numbers. Have seen
photos of drills from the 1930's and imagine dozens of them, flooding the
landscape like beetles, behind a bush, inside a creek, under a tree... Plus I
always liked the 1930's: cheerful , colorful markings, eccenrtic camouflage
schemes, Hotchkisses and Tankettes. It was a time of innocence. These
photos were taken after it was sprayed with a primer and a coat of Light Olive
Drab 2 (that's Tamiya's matt sprays, - not after Federal standards). Will have
to spray some gibberish colorful markings like the one on the front glacis
plate. Eventually, Tamiya's TS-28 satin olive green already
turned flat matt, after exposure to sunlight and dust. I plan to wash it
with black and drybrush the edges with a lighter tone (when I was a 1:35 scale
modeller, I saw some pics of large RC tanks and thought : "who needs an RC
tank?" Tell me what in earth I was thinking..!). I will post some videos with
stunts next week on YouTube. In theory, I could even carry it with me to the US
in my next trip, in a suitcase, and play with it. Can you imagine the
people at JFK as soon as they open the suitcase? "What in earth is THAT sir ??
!"
And I am starting a real , large, 1:6 scale tank as
we speak.
