Alodining is a chemical process that treats the surface of the aluminium.
Here is a link to good article on alodine and anodizing. http://www.matronics.com/rv-list/hovan/tips/AlAnDef.html

Thanks, I’ll try that.

I don’t know what “Alodine” is. Is it a process, a chemical, or both ? Is it like anodizing ?

Acetone also does the trick.
In addition do you plan on keeping the aluminium bare? If not you should Alodine the aluminiun to prevent corrosion.

I just brought some aluminum stock that came stenciled with big blue letters denoting the temper, etc. Does anyone know what solvent will remove that dye ? I’ve tried alcohol and some household cleaners, but no luck.
