I saw that you just have to reverse the power leads on these motors even if it is brushless... if it does not work, I guess I'll have to do some hardware hacking(got some good electronics skills)

You realize that these are not reversible motors?

I just ordered 2x 400 Watt - 24 Volt Brushless Electric Scooter Motor (KollMorgen) P/N CTI-187-2 Direction RHS , Counter Clockwise Spin ( Looking -at- the Motor face/spindle UP ) 5" Diameter , 5/16" Shaft 12 gauge power leads Black/Red . Has built in Motor Control. 3 Mounting Holes.
They are a great deal on e-bay and it look like I'll be able to have proportional speed with just a trimpot(a digital or servo controlled one, and reverse power leads to have reverse...) they are 39.99$US each, just search for scooter motor and you will see them. Hope it can help someone!

I intend to build a Char Leclerc, a french tank still in use. Already have my track made, have to shop for my sprockets for my track and look for gearbox... can't wait to get my project started!
