If I decide to continue with RocketMan, do you think that servo would also
be strong enough for the steering ? Upgrading the steering servo was another
recommendation.

That is the same servo I used. No problems here. I used a servo horn to
drive the elevation with more leverage so the entire throw of the servo is
equal to the entire range of motion on the gun. In the configuration, a
counterweight or spring didn't seem to be necessary. I'm also using the same
type of servo (two of them actually) for the brakes on my T-54. They work
well so far, plenty of torque and strength, they don't even get warm or hint
at straining mechanically.

I'm using a Hobbico CS-80 jumbo servo in the Cromwell for elevate.  So far
it's working well.  Make sure your marker is properly counter sprung or
weighted.
