Personally I want to fight with the tanks. If you want auto-targeting or anything more than a very simple fighting machine then you have to go bigger than 1/6th- 12" high just isn't big enough. In fact, doing some work on this last night I realised that my problem is not actually building a walking robot, it's building any sort of 12" high robot that can cope with grass.I have a new design that may do just that...

...and no, Chris, it won't outrun a tank, I don't think. I did some sums yesterday which suggested a top speed for my latest design of 7.8mph, which is a fast jog for me. However, at that speed I suspect it would be completely uncontrollable and fall over.

As regards the RCMSC, surely this is really Robot Wars? Not that I have a problem with that, but you will need a lot more rules and will end up in technical arguments about them. By insisting that the wargaming is vaguely realistic one avoids a lot of problems. I've spent many years doing fantasy role-playing,and once you move away from a familiar setting, it becomes much more difficult to agree what does (or should) work.

Anyone interested in starting RCMecSuitCombat (RCMSC for short)?  Just put some guns and fancy things on it like auto targeting and just battle with the Infantry.  Some could even be tracked MecSuits.
