>How`s work on your 1/6 (cant
remember what your building)? Well, I have to take a deep breath
before THIS project is actualised and up and running. As I have seen
the difficulties people are facing when committed to this or that original
design, I am designing something practical that will fullfill the needs ,
practicalities, something that market available parts will fit in, with the
maximum ground clearance, steel wheels, etc. SO I am drawing something on A-CAD
and have drawn quite a few hybrids so far. None can be described as this or that
specific tank. It'll be something devised from the mistakes of teh
past, bank accounts and capacity of my car's trunk. Most probably it'll
have the T34 drive system, because it works nicely with my tracks . Tracks
will be sawndwitched inside the two drive wheels, so no throws. Large wheels are
good, they give you readily good ground clearance. A drive wheel in the rear is
good because it "pulls" teh stretched part of the track from teh front and under
the tank, and sagging happens on the top, not in teh front.
You people are building wonderful scale replicas but I did
this when I was doing 1:35 models and historical accuracy was exhausting for me!
I am combining the best solutions from all tanks that I've seen and are
workable.
One of my hybrids looks like the one in the attached jeg.
With an overall length of 75 cms it has a "street -smart" type of suspension
(because it is not a suspension, really) and a ground clearance of 7.8 cms or 3
inches.
With a sixth wheel, it could become about 85 cms long, but
then it is too heavy for me to lift and put it in the trunk. It'll have the same
hinge size with the smaller tank.
I just wish Kevlar were cheaper and worked in places
around.
