Steve
I build marketing models for a company here in
Houston (Conroe) Texas that manufactures a tracked vehicle called the Jumbo Fire
Tank. The Jumbo is based on a de-militarized Leopard 1A4, a standard German Main
Battle Tank. I am sure you are familiar with this chassis.
The turrent and all other military attachments are
removed and the resulting chassis is the basis for the Jumbo.
I have several drawings of the Leopard, including a
complete CAD drawing of the chassis (only) . I used this drawing in Kinetics
3Dmax to create the Flash movie that may be seen at http://texogatech.com/jumboflash/ ...
this will give you some idea of the configuration of the Jumbo. I do not have
any drawings of the turrent. Incidentally, there is a piece of software,
Scan2cad (http://www.softcover.com/frame_demo.htm)
that will generate CAD files from scanned images (GIF, JPG, JPEG, TARGA, etc.).
It is reasonably inexpensive and really works well.
You can probably get 3-view drawings from Tamiya
kits of the Leopard. I know that I worked from these drawings for many of
my models. BTW, most of the models that I built were 1/25 and 1/35 scale.
However, I built one larger, RC model but used an Abrams to build a simulation
of the Jumbo.
I had a DXF file built to create my 3Dmax drawings
and animations, such as you can see at the above URL link. You can go to
this site http://www.texogatech.com .for more
information on the Jumbo and Texoga Technologies, Inc. Another URL to a Web site
I created is http://www.jumbofiretank.com
.
If any of this is interesting to you, please eMail
me with your questions.
Cheers ... Dale
