I see the problem

But I thought that the shell covering most motors would be marginally water 
resistant
its not like a tanks gonna be completly flooded with water or anything.

Oh well, I doubt flamethrowers (water) would fit into the general feel of 
the hobby anyway, what if it meant to be tank on tank, instead of tank on 
little plastic army men standing around a big gun.
