Why develop a demo system based on assistance from the opposing tank,
when the chance of getting such assistance during a battle is exactly
00.000000 percent?
Have you considered using sonar sensors like the ones used in polaroid
cameras? They are inexpensive, work without assistance from the
opposing tank and they don't care about sunlight, dust or smoke. A
couple seniors at the Naval Academy equiped one of our warships with
such a tracking system about 6 years ago and it worked (not always the
outcome for a senior project). Technology has definitely improved
since, so it should work even better now.
