Title: Re: switches? [TANKS]
Hey Chrys,
That setup you are describing sounds like it is more suited to ackerman steering where the front servo just steers 2 passive wheels.
It could work if you had a single motor with a diff setup but if the speed controller is cheap enough you might want to consider buying a second one for complete control of your tank.

The only idea that comes to mind to get that working might be to have the switch disconnect power going to one motor so you can steer with the opposite side, you would probably need to add relays or something because you will get surges switching motors  on and off.
But you will need to add extra components so in the end a second controller would still be preferable and will let you do 360 degree pivots which you wont be able to do with what you are suggesting.

Merry CHristmas all!

I am finally adding a speed controller to my tank.  WIthout it, it is as described in the 'How to Articles' page, a bull in a china shop. Also, it breaks the pins in the axles, when all 20 kilos start with the "5th gear".

I would like to operate it from my two channel RC transmittor and receiver. One channel is for the accelerator and is connected to the speed controller. I 've bought one that will take my 18 Volts (and you don't want to know the price - things in the US Are cheaper). The other channel (the steer channel on the transmittor) is supposed to operate a servo with a switch. Anybody knows and is willing to tell me the type of switch and wiring I should use in order for the switch to activate the left motor in one position, both motors in the middle, right motor on the other end? as in my attached image?

Any help will be appreciated.

Chrys
