Steve, don't know if you were referring to me, but I'm progressing well.  I scaled to a 1:7 Abrams just to not be such a huge target.  I'm also using plywood as the sides of my road wheels with a center section of smaller diameter made from 2 by drilled by a hole saw.  I pushed a piece of 2" rubber tubing over each and glued the 3" diameter 3/4" plywood to each side to keep the MTS track centered.  Power is from 2 350 watt scooter motors and a rs80d controller.  I still need to purchase the U1 batteries.  Turrent should be powered by a mini speed controller and a lathe type cnc rotary table I picked up off of ebay.  The hull needed to be finished but I really enjoy the challenge of coming up with neat solutions to problems as the tank progresses.

How you coming on your tank?  I am also part way into building a 1:6 scale abrams.  What are you using for wheels and tracks.  I have turning wheels on a lathe from stacks of plywood glued together but I don't know how well they will hold up.  My track system is too complicated to explain but I can sent a picture if you like.   I am planing to use a wheel chair motor controller that I picked up on ebay. Let me know if you want to compare any notes.
