I`ve just been testing an idea in my workshop, try this for size, 12v drills turning
guitar tensioning worm screws, giving 15-1 down ratio. I`ve spent the eve rigging up
a test (felt sure it would get too hot,but no(upto now))
it sounds wacky, but it might work. I`m sure it`ll be too slight for a drive
system(being about 5mm shaft) but no harm trying.
to answer your question Keith, Im in head scratching stage of building a 1/6th scale
Leopard.I`m trying to cut corners and get away with it.
I wanted to build a British tank but the leopard has less rounded bits and I just
like it.(funny coz my grandad didnt)
this is my first tank and I want to build everything from scratch.
Loe will be powered by 2 x 12v drills(found a good deal at Maplin).constructed from
ply + alluminium sections and fitted with a Piranha R6 marker.what sort of speed
control I`ll have will be limited only to my imagination.
I have some rubber matting but I`m thinking of useing layer(s) of roofing felt
sandwiched by oak strips for my traks (has anyone tryed that?)modern roofing felt is
very strong,tough and totaly flexable.
