here is a simple drawing of how to cast in a sleeve
the top picture is your wooden master with the pin in place as to where it
will be when finished
the second picture is a cast part with the sleeve held in place (for when
the casting is made)
the last picture shows the pin being taken from the casting and the sleeve
remaining in place. I have one of them little mini chopper saws from the local
hobby shop and I use it to nick up the outside of the tubing on all sides (or as
much as I can - you only need to do part of the sleeve, I just get board and do
it all), this helps lock it in place inside the casting so it can't spin loose
or slide out.
the pin that goes into the mold with the sleeve on it needs to be either
sprayed with good release spray (like he uses for prepping the mold prior to
casting) or a few thick dabs of good car wax before you put the sleeve over it,
this way is the resin runs in between the pin and the sleeve, you can still give
the pin a little twist and break it free. I use the spray - makes for a
faster mold prep time
