I haven't used "procast", but I've made quite a few molds and parts out
of various materials (rubber, latex, fiberglass, plaster, sand) using
release agents such as silicon spray, PVA (poly-vinyl-alcohol) film and
paint thinner with vasoline.

In all cases, you should seal your plug (especially wooden plugs)
extremely well using a couple coats of sanding sealer, wood glue or
epoxy before attempting to make a mold. For non-porous materials, like
plastic or metal, there's obviously no need to seal the plug. Then,
apply a couple coats of liquid car wax. Finally, apply the appropriate
mold release for the material being used. If you follow that approach,
the mold will slip off "like butter" every time.
