I used grade 8 bolts on the T34. Works great. I used Hex Head Shoulder Bolts on the Cromwell (also known as lawnmower axle bolts). Works great in this suspended application.
Look to the bottom of this page, http://www.mcmaster.com/ctlg/DisplCtlgPage.asp?ReqTyp=CATALOG&CtlgPgNbr= 2942&CtlgEdition=112 I am helping a certain someone in building a certain un-named
tank. It is a solid axle design using bolts screwed into 5/16" thick 6066 aluminum bar stock that is bolted to a 1/2" ply hull. So far
it seems to be a very rugged chassis which should hold together well. This
new vehicle will be ready in time for the next MAG battle on Oct. 28-29. Steve Tyng |
