got a question regarding ground wheels, is aluminum wheels gonna be a problem on stainless steel tracks? I intend to cast them to get a realistic look. I was a bit afraid of wear problem, track grinding the wheels...

Absolutely wonderful work Derek.  Will you harden the wooden wheels somehow? soak them in some kind of epoxy or resin? have you thought of using material other than wood for the ground wheels? like aluminium or something?

My suggestion for that would be to put some rubber on the outside like the real thing.

I know finding the size you want might be tricky but you might want to look at large rubber hoses used for industrial applications maybe like a car/truck radiator hose or something. THen just slice them into low profile tyres.

Or even try what I am about to and that is to simply get a rubber tube from a bike tyre that suits and just cut out loops then heat them in hot water then stretch them on or onsecure them to the rims with a glue, you could replace them as well that way.
Personally I would avoid metal on metal and a thin layer of rubber would look pretty cool.
