fiberglass layer(s) [TANKS]

I took a stab at fiberglassing my turret today (first time fiberglassing). 

I wasn't sure how many layers I ought to have - can a single layer be 
used meaningfully?  I used one 3x3' cloth (I assume its just a standard 
thickness).  Most of the turret is one layer thick and on the corners I 
added another layer.  I guess I'll find out if its thick enough when I 
take all of the foam out of the inside but I'll take all the advice I 
can get first.
