Yeah it was great to get it moving!  I think that the TTS should be named something else....but I don't think it would be appropriate to say it here!  It did give me a lot of trouble...although it was all my own fault.  Everything has to be really perfect for the sprocket and cleats to engage properly.

The tank is pretty darn heavy.  I used 1/2" plywood for just about everything.  The drive motors are 13 lbs each!  And the batteries are 36 lbs.  I'm guessing the whole thing will be around 110 lbs.  I've done a few calculations and I'm hoping that the batteries will last for an hour- it all depends on what the duty cycle is.  I'll have to bring a spare set for an all day battle.

Beware: After the drive train is working,  you sort of abandon the rest of the tank because you just want to fool around and drive the thing!

Very nice! Although the video is a little out of sync, its still looks like a really nicely built tank. I just cant wait until mine is moving.

Well I finally got the TTS working on my tank. I had lots of trouble
with one side and I kept breaking teeth and throwing the track.

After a lot of troubleshooting, I finally figured out that the 1" axle
that supports the sprocket was about 10 degs out of alignment. The
chain was tensioned too tight and it was pulling the axle out of
alignment. I loosened the chain and everything is OK now.

So last night I put the top part on, and drove it around a bit in the
driveway. I couldn't get it up to top speed because the top section
wasn't bolted down, but I think you get the general idea.

Now I have to buckle down and finish off all of the detail work and get
the darn thing done!

The video is on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrtKVWmy-wo

The audio gets out of sync somehow about 30 seconds into the video so
that is a bit annoying but you get the idea.
