In my tank, I have 2 12 volt 18 ah batteries in a loop to power my motors. I use Sommer's $100 speed control. The logic system is powered from a 12 volt 7ah battery. I recently discovered with my turret speed control that I can use 5 volt power regulators in a parallel to handle higher amps and run the turret at slow speeds. Sommer's speed control only consumes 330mah. I calculated that my radio setup would consume about 3 amps with maximum current draw. Would it be safe to use the logic coil battery with the regulators to power my radio equipment? I don't want to use 3 sets of batteries in my tank.
The turret finally works flawlessly for now with the chain drive and my 2 speed control. That draws 1.5 ah directly off the logic coil battery at stall current.
Just a thought for the people with CNC machines. You could make kits for field artillery so people can get involved with low costs.
