Isn't there already a rule that home-built marker system must use
commercially available, properly pressure rated equipment ? Isn't that
sufficient ?

If there's a new pressure restriction rule enforced, I think it should apply
equally to both home-made and commercial markers. Allowing commercial
markers to run at a higher pressure would give them an unfair advantage.
This is particularly true when tankers in some locations cannot acquire
commercial markers.

Yes, for safety we bring a chrono to every battle and we test all
markers before we start. We used to use 280fps as the limit, but in the
last battle we dropped down to 250fps with no significant change in the
battle. So, we will keep the limit at 250fps or even move it lower if
the guns continue to work well.

For homemade pressurized systems (like Chris') there will also be a
pressure limit because we don't want any systems blowing up in someone's
face. We learned that lesson the hard way in the warship combat hobby
when we watched a boat literally explode, split in half and immediately
sink. The idiot (yes, he was an idiot) who built the pressure system
thought a toilet float could hold liquid FREON filled to the brim. When
the sun heated it just a little, he learned a physics lesson as the
thing exploded a few feet from his face. Fortunately, nobody was hurt,
but he definitely had to change his underwear :-)
