I have been having a problem finding a treadmill belt also.  It's garage sale 
season, so I am hopeful.  However, I am considering alternatives as my impatience 
grows.  I thought of using seat belts but they seem to have an excessive amount of 
side-to-side movement.  That may create additional wear on the road wheels as they 
rub.  I did find something a Joan Fabrics that has no side to side movement.  It is 
a woven polyester product called Mulit Pleater Tape.  It is 3 7/8" wide.  I don't 
know how it will hold up, but it is thin enough to triple layer, but seem strong 
enough with a single layer.  I picked it up for $2.00 per yard.  I figured to 
experiment with it.
