Yeah, I think we're on the same page. I'll have a driver and commander camera, but no wide angle lens. Laser ranging is on my "distant future wish list". I was thinking about range estimation by comparing the apparent size of the target against superimposed generalized silhouettes. Not sure if it would be accurate enough to be worth the trouble, but might be fun trying. Again, let the distance effect the marker elevation via a computer controlled servo. Also hope the vehicle is on flat ground :)
 
In fact the only areas we differ are:
1. I'm not a beer drinker, and
2. I have no idea what a "numpty" is :)
 
Despite lack of payment, I have no problem posting the source code once I get it to a point where it doesn't embarrass me as a software engineer. It's written in C# and a little C for the image acquisition. Keep in mind we not talking MS Excel, here. It won't work for you 'out of the box', but it may give you a starting point for your own system.
