Are you building a friction drive system?  If so you build the track to fit the 
tank.  Review the third and fourth pics on this page that shows how to get the 
correct belt length.

Once you have the belt length and the width of your track pieces you can determine a 
track spacing.  I drew a template on the computer for belt shape and track spacing 
then printed it out.  I could assist you with a template if you desire.

If you are attempting a sprocket drive TTS you assemble the track on the sprocket 
itself.
