I have been casting for years and most casters don't bother with
soda cans. They give very little useable aluminum, compared to the amount
of slag produced and the quantity of cans needed. Every now and
then I go out the evening before trash day and pick up an amazing
amount of aluminum stuff. When I get enough, I melt it all down and pour it
into ingots (muffin tins work great) for future use.
