It won’t decrease the range anymore than if you replaced the magnet with a normal ole piece of metal of any type.  The fact that it’s a magnet makes zero difference.

I disagree.  The magnets steady field should not affect the radio gear.  Moving or pulsing magnetic fields could induce currents in the radio gears circuits.  A solid magnet sitting still in relation to the radio gear should not make a difference.

I would think if the rec. was near the magnet, but if it was else where in the tank, I would think it would be okay.
