I made a test piece a while back and quickly discovered that it was hard to 
keep the chain on the sprocket, with bike chain anyway. Now if you used a 
more stable chain, say #35 or similar, it would be much better, because they 
are designed to stay on the sprocket.

I also looked at some timing belts, but again quickly dismissed the idea 
because a timing belt 7' long and 4" wide is not cheap, if you can find them 
cheap I think they will work, this is just my opinion. There are all sorts 
of belts out there that could be used for a tank you just need to find them 
(preferably cheap).
