I believe the idea of people providing kits is a fantastic thing which will
make it easier for many players. Plans are also great as they help people
kick off. For myself I am thinking of building a Hetzer. It looks mean, is
turrentless (is simpler so is better for a first tank) and has no complex
curves in the hull. Additionally Joe Sommer has been kind enough to post the
plans he used with all dimensions. I have no problems scaling diagrams
(actually that pretty much sums up my occupation), but I AM Lazy. So given
Joe has done this already I'm quite happy to use it.
Thanks Joe :)
At the end of the day it is all personal preference. Some people want
something that is ready to fight. Others want to have some components but
not everything. Others want to scratch build from plans. and some want to
scratch build from 2 grainy photographs (In my Teenage years I scratch built
a couple of 1:72 model planes from plan and elevation drawings).
Anyone who provides anything that helps the new person is to be applauded.
Although I wouldn't buy a complete kit myself I know many would, and all the
more the merrier!
