Hi Jim,
No, this switch is different than the battery
cut-off switch Frank is referring to.
Take a look at Joe Sommer's Tank Destroyer #T010.
One of the last overhead pics in Joe's construction article shows the
push/pull switch I'am referring to.I purchased mine from the local Napa Auto
Parts Store In Airdrie for about $10. Take a look at www.napaonline.com , there may be a
store in your area. I was also initially concerned with a push/pull
switch, but realized the ability to shut the tank down quickly in an emergency
is a plus. If turning the tank off by accidentally running into
obstacles becomes an issue I can always install a guard over the switch on the
outside of the hull(ie.-a large drawer pull/handle).
The only designation on the SSR's is Crydom Solid
State Relay, D1D40. I purchased used D1D40's from www.torontosurplus.com for $25 US and
new D1D40's from www.sayal.com for $45
CAN.

Grant, is it the same type as Frank Pittelli
listed? If so can you tell me the store you buy it at, might be able to have
one brought in for me here.
Also what is the number on the D1D40 SSR's you
are using, want to check if Digi-Key.com has them listed, since UCFV has
an account with them I can get them in on regular shippment and not have to
pay any shipping fees.

Darn cold here now, must be at least down to
50 degrees F,,,,
The switch Frank shows would be great, if not
for the fact that by the time we get it here in canada the 6.00 goes up by
about an extra 40.00 dollars, what with UPS adding delievery fee and
broker charges.
Might still end up using something like on
the link I sent, at least along that idea. Didn't like the push pull type,
sure as can be I would hit something that shut off the power.

Hey Jim,
How is it going out in Lotus Land......we
got our first two inches of snow out here in the foothills of the
Rockies.
I've used a 70 amp push pull automotive
switch I purchased from the local Nappa Auto store here in Airdrie(about
$10). Other tankers have used this switch...it is sold on some of the
robot sites also.

Would like to know what everyone is using
for the power switch. The rules say it has to be outside the tank and
easy to disconnect the main batteries.
Have looked at several kinds, none of
which seem like a good idea at the moment.
