Why bother with the big stuff? Tamiya 1:16 scale tanks can be fitted with
dual camera systems. A local small scale group demo'd such a system to the
Maryland group last year. Another issue with what your proposing is that
some sort of sensor system will be required to detect weapon hits. Using a
Tamiya tank this is solved with the Tamiya battle system.
You can take this reasoning a step further and ask why bother with a model
at all? Interactive computer games are available that will allow you to
battle anybody across the globe in your tank of choice.
I fooled around with a camera for a while with the T34 and quickly realized
that you wouldn't be able to effectively battle without poring a ton of
money into the transmission and display systems. Besides, the reason for
remote vision systems is to remove the human from the vehicle. I for one
enjoy the social aspect of the hobby more than anything else and you can't
beat the adrenaline rush you get out on the field.
