difference between batteries [TANKS]

Hi Guys,

I'm almost done with my FOA Tiger ...and was wondering,for a Kiddie car motor driven vehicle what is the best type of battery....i.e. whats the difference between a 12 volt SLA battery and a 12 volt sealed gel battery?? and what ampage am I looking for? 7 or higher?...I am looking to run two batteries,one for the track and the other to run the turret operations...I bought a Hitec Laser 6channel transmitter that comes with an 8 channel receiver...what does this mean....I'm kinda blindly going through the motions of trying to get this thing running at least,and worry about the other operations later( turret traverse gun elevation trigger firing etc..) any help would be greatly appreciated..BTW can anyone suggest a good/cheap ESC unit that would work with my set-up..(someone suggested a Vantec but I don't have the money for one of those)
