Welp,

I beleive I will do just that, and hope that perhaps 10 pounds of moter gears and chains and 40 pounds of battery  plus a reinforces tubular chais frame will make up for the inherant weakness.......but a picture is worth 1000 words!

Bart,

I'd recommend that you wait until you can spin your drive wheels with your motors and test the current TTS before building another TTS.  Make sure all road-idler-drive wheels are in line, no bending axles under tension, and of course a decent tension on the tracks.

OK

I beleive the problem is the belting that I used......even witht he tensioners maxed out......it still can twist, So I guess therein lies the problem.   Time to do some sperimentation, mebbe I can double up the belting next time round, or can someone suggest alternative belting?   At least I can use this set to get the motors and tranny going!!

A used Sears treadmill belt.....yeah its got a little bit of flex to it......I'm rebuilding the tensioning system today to be a little more robust....I suspect whenthe rear axle flexed that cause the idler wheels to come out of line.....hopefully with the new rear axle I can turn the tesnsion up even more!!!

Bart,

What kind of belting did you use to make your TTS with?  Is it easy to twist it from side to side (should be rather stiff)?

I'm using 1/2 tall teeth right now, anyon think I might need to Retrofit to 3/4 height to prevent thrown tracks?
